Thanksgiving and Gratitude

“Gratitude is not a passive response to something we have been given, gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that lives within and without us” -David Whyte, Constellations
The Need For Gratitude
You can never go wrong when you seek out David Whyte. His collections of poetry always seem to appear just when I need it.
There is understandably big hoopla around thanksgiving every year, but the part that has really got me thinking these past few years has been the gratitude aspect of it. Gratitude is at the center of everything I do these days because the world as we knew it has changed in more ways than one.
I embrace the practice of gratitude because even though we may not always be exactly where we want to be, we are fortunate to be living during these times. Despite the ups and downs, live is giving, because it is full of surprises.
What I’m Making

We have a tradition in my household that we never host Thanksgiving. It is always better to be a guest and walk into a welcoming environment than it is to be a host and have to deal with the stress and anxiety of having to cater to your guests.
So every year I make appetizers as my contribution to proceedings.
This year my main appetizer is a cranberry gouda pull apart bread, thanks to Brunch with Babs. If you don’t already follow her on Instagram I highly suggest you do so, you’ll be grateful for it.
What I’m Working On
The holidays always cause a stop in everything I do, however I’m working on a fourth book in the Power Bearer series. I’m struggling to get past chapter 1 due to all the distractions in my life, but its coming along slowly.
You can read the three books that are currently out here
